Note: Cita Education specializes in SAT, Math, Physics, and mindfulness. For SAT we designed a very student centered curriculum that incorporate efficient, effective, and fun learning strategies to help students retain the materials. We also make sure that students enjoy learning at Cita. We managed to make students improve and create sweet memories at Cita. Mindfulness sessions are also incorporated to help students concentrate, relax, and hence become better test takers. We are very good in helping students who are not keen on Math and Physics, and in helping students who already have a good foundation to go even further. We accomplish this by giving the students a solid foundation, making the subjects relevant and interesting. For Mindfulness, we use a very comprehensive, structured and secular curriculum. It is a total of 12 hours of class that is divided to 8 weeks. We aspire to instill lifelong learning skills in students while helping them excel in school, and test preparation.
We chose Cita for the summer SAT course because class sizes are smaller than most other study centers and Mr. Chee values the importance of developing an inquisitive mind and how to learn/study/solve problems rather than pushing drills and rote memorization. He fosters a relaxed environment, thanks to his mindfulness approach, is very encouraging, and genuinely wants his students to succeed. But he is also realistic. It's nice that he takes the time to meet with students and parents individually re: goals, making sure everyone is on the same page, reminding students and parents that one will be able to get out of the program only as much as one is willing to put into it.
During class, there is some time for the kids to get to know each other and this was invaluable too. There seemed to be a healthy, encouraging and supportive vibe. Students openly shared their scores with each other and used these to set benchmarks for themselves. I think the socialization and bonding made the class that much more enjoyable - considering they were giving up their summer to study.
Weekly diagnostic tests were administered and they were reviewed during the week, along with structured teachings (books included in tuition) by Mr. Chee and other instructors. Feedback was given on every essay.
All in all, we couldn't have been happier with our experience here. My son's score improved over 300 points and we are ecstatic with his final score! Thank you, Mr. Chee!!
I called several tutoring companies to line up SAT tutoring for my daughter and they never even called me back; but Chee answered the phone right away, he scheduled her tutoring sessions around her busy schedule and really helped improve her test score in the one area she was struggling: math. Thank you Chee!
