Fenestra Winery was established by the Replogle family on the historic Ruby Hill property in Pleasanton in 1976 and in 1980 occupied the century-old George True Winery building on Vallecitos Road in Livermore. The old building had been badly neglected, and the Replogles hauled away tons of trash, and installed a new roof and strengthened the building. The winery building was refurbished in 1997 and vineyards have been planted around the winery. The winery specializes in classically balanced, award-winning wines from primarily Livermore Valley grapes. Darcie’s great, great grandfather, Fritz R. Ruegsegger, came to America with his family from Switzerland in 1875 to pursue a career in winemaking. In 1883, Fritz’s son and Darcie’s great grandfather, Christian Ruegsegger started his own winery, the Alpine Winery, in St. Joseph, Missouri, which held bond #62 in the United States. Along with managing the vineyards and all winemaking tasks, Christian hand painted his own wine labels. The Alpine Winery bottled its last wine in 1945, when hard times following the repeal of Prohibition forced the family to shut down operations. Darcie Kent now proudly carries on the family tradition as a fifth generation vintner and artist for the winery that bears her name, Darcie Kent Vineyards. The original house was totally remodeled and redesigned to be a school with work areas, a children's kitchen, child size sinks and bathrooms. Since 1978, Garden Montessori School has provided a preschool enrichment program for children of the San Ramon Valley. Melo’s has its roots in a remote village in the lush hills of the province of Calabria in the south of Italy. There, two brothers, Carmelo and Gaetano Piccolo, were raised on simple, rustic meals prepared with the best regional ingredients such as pure olive oil, wild oregano, handmade pasta and hearty bread. The brothers absorbed the love of simple, flavorful food and the passion for cooking for which the people of southern Italy are known worldwide. The memory of the local flavors and traditions traveled with Carmelo and Gaetano as the family re-settled in America. In 1956, the brothers opened the Napoli Pizzeria in Vallejo, California -- a thriving and popular place for decades! Their success continued when a new venture took them to Pleasant Hill, California. Dr. David Nisenboym graduated from the University of California, Davis with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior and a minor in Russian language. He then attained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from San Francisco’s University of the Pacific Dental School in 2013. After completing dental school, he completed a dental residency with the Pascua Yaqui tribe of Arizona. While serving the dental needs of the tribe, he gained valuable clinical experience in many procedures including implant placement, IV conscious sedation, root canals, crowns, fillings, and dentures. Following his residency, Dr. Nisenboym returned to his alma mater for two years as a pre-clinical instructor. Dr. Nisenboym also holds an IV Conscious Sedation permit that enables him to administer IV sedation at his practice. In 1922, Giovanni and Virginia Biale left the town of Savona in Genoa, Italy with their three young sons, Giacomo, Mario and Rudolfo to make a new life in America. With help from a cousin, they made their way to San Francisco and settled in the Italian section of Potrero Hill.
