Life is Sweet is a dedicated gluten free bakery and café located in charming downtown Danville, California. San Ramon Valley High School graduate and Bay Area native Julie Krause, attended the California Cullinary Academy in San Francisco, and immediately went to work in a small local bakery specializing in wedding and custom cakes. After 9 years of perfecting her skills, she returns to Danville to fulfill her life long dream of owning her own Bakery.
Julie's stepmother Susan Hart, was diagnosed with Celiac disease in 2013 and was forced to immediately change to an all gluten free diet. Both Julie and Kevin (Susan's husband) watched Susan struggle with being able to eat out while protecting her health. It became apparent there is a lack of options for people who either want or need to eat gluten free.
Together we bring you Life is Sweet Bakery and Cafe, serving gluten free breakfast, lunch, and assorted baked goods. In addition we have wedding and custom cakes, all of which are also Gluten free.
What a great bakery. Right as you walk in the staff greets you with a friendly hello. It's nice to have an all gluten-free bakery in the East Bay. From the cupcakes to the cookies everything was delicious.
I got a turkey sandwich with potato salad. The sandwich was phenomenal with lots of meat. Everything was clean inside. I highly recommend coming here if you have a gluten allergy and I will definitely be coming back.
I've walked past this cute place more than a few times and I've always been curious about it but TODAY I made it a point to come in since my trainer has been raving about it hahaha all the great words about the place? TRUE!
I was feeling the place right when I entered the door. Why? The location, space, decor, music, and especially the inviting and friendly staff! You have to love smiling faces right?! *Shot out to Jennifer!
For a nice light yet filling lunch, order the SUMMER SALAD which has spinach, turkey, onions, apples, candied walnuts, feta and dried cranberries which is served with a balsamic dressing. It's not your ordinary balsamic dressing! On point. The mix of everything is perfect.
The gluten free BLUEBERRY TOAST! I ordered this as a side and ooooohhhhhh, so good! I ended up buying an entire loaf after hahahaha
I'll be back next week to try the Avocado Toast and more items!
One word is all you need to describe Life is Sweet Bakery and Cafe ... delicious. We have eaten there several times and the food is always delicious. But, I would be remiss if I didn't talk about their cookies, especially the pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. They are the amazing. They sell out fast - I find myself calling ahead to have them put some aside for me.
