Sultan's is STUNNING.
I'd been going to their Pleasanton location for quite some time and adored the food. I was so happy to see them now in my hometown.
Look at this place! And the food! And the bar! And the appreciative service!
I will be back again and again.
Our friends were in town and staying in Livermore. We were looking for a place for dinner after wine tasting and found out from Yelp that Sultan's Kabob had opened a location on First St. Having dined and enjoying the food at its Pleasanton location, we decided to have dinner at Sultan's. We found spot in their small parking lot, but there is e street parking.
The restaurant has a bar and a dining area inside, but they do have a nice large covered patio dining area. The menu consists of 28 menu items with kebabs, shawarmas, kofte, adana, casseroles, wraps, salads, falafel, appetizers and baklavas, Turkish delights and cake slices for dessert. This location had pide and lahmacun on the menu. I asked the cashier if this was new to all the locations and he said it was only for this location because of the special oven they had here.
We placed our orders and found a nice table for four in the patio. Water was self-service at the water station. Our friends order falafel and humus and pita for appetizers. The falafels were very good and they had a light green centers, which we found out was from the use of parsley in the mixture.
I had the adana kebab plate, which came with a salad, hummus and pita. The ground beef and lamb was nicely seasoned and was delish.
I tasted the lamb shank in a tomato based sauce and it came with rice. The lamb was flavorful and was for tender. Our friends had the lamb shank and chicken kebabs and they loved the food.
A new Sultan's location and it was just as good as Pleasanton. Plus, they have pide and lahmacun here, which I need to try next time. Service was very friendly. Will be back if in Livermore.
I used to frequent the Pleasanton location alot, and am so glad they opened a new location in the old Backyard Bayou spot in Downtown Livermore. Complete with bar and outside patio. This place is amazing.
The food is always consistent and on point. My go to dishes are the Lahmacun which is like a meat flatbread and you put parsley, tomatoes, onions, and lemon juice. Roll it like a burrito and it is so delicious. Their lamb and chicken shawarmas are legit. They layer the meats on a spit and slice them as it cooks. This location is the only place you can get the Lahmacun as they have the brick oven here.
They have so much variety for everyone, the food is halal. Their desserts are so good too. The Sutlac ( rice pudding ) Baklava, and Kunefe are my favorites.
The staff are very friendly, from the person taking the orders to the staff that bring your food.
Looking forward to my weekly visit.
