Ruggie and Carole Van Muijen are residents of Danville, and Ruggie grew up in the Bay Area. He has been in the restaurant industry for 44 years, 35 of those with his own business in the local area, and Carole has taught cooking at Monte Vista High School for the past decade .
The Growler has evolved over the years from starting out as a craft beer focused bar, to becoming a neighborhood restaurant & pub with a cozy, familiar feel. Located just off the Iron Horse Trail, we are a favorite with cyclists, walkers, families and dog owners looking for a place to sit down and enjoy a cold beer, cocktail, and some delicious food from our diverse menu.

This place is a Danville Gem! I have never had anything on the menu that disappoints. In fact, most of the time, we end up sharing because we can't decide on one meal.
Very comfortable staff and service. And the beers are changing all the time.
Perfect day to enjoy a beer and wings on the patio after a winning baseball game. Dogs and kids friendly on the patio. The waitress and hostess kept our drinks filled. Loved the smoky flavor of the 10-piece wings. If you like beer, this is the place to come. They have a large beer assortment and weekly surprises! The Growler even has refrigerators by the register filled with take-home specialty beers. Perfect gift for the holidays!
