With locations in Pleasant Hill, Brentwood, Livermore and Danville. Melo's Pizza & Pasta has been a Contra Costa County landmark for ALMOST 50 years! Melo’s has its roots in a remote village in the lush hills of the province of Calabria in the south of Italy. There, two brothers, Carmelo and Gaetano Piccolo, were raised on simple, rustic meals prepared with the best regional ingredients such as pure olive oil, wild oregano, handmade pasta and hearty bread. The brothers absorbed the love of simple, flavorful food and the passion for cooking for which the people of southern Italy are known worldwide. Popular opinion has it that Melo’s has set the standard for New York style pizza and Italian regional pasta in the greater East Bay area for over 45 years. Today, Melo’s consistently strives to offer a menu that is fresh, healthy, and updated in a setting that is appropriate for families, romantic dates, and business occasions. Over the decades, Melo’s has stayed true to its roots by staying Passionately Italian! [read more]

We are part of the Bacchus Management Group family of restaurants. Bacchus, located in the best “big” city in the world, San Francisco, is a boutique hospitality group that owns and oversees a handful of award-wining restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Spruce in San Francisco and The Village Pub in Woodside. The group also includes SMIP Ranch, a private farm in the hills above Woodside that grows ingredients exclusively for the restaurants; a coffee roasting company, RoastCo; and The Village Bakery, an artisan bakery in Woodside. Pizza Antica's journey began over 17 years ago with the opening of the first location in Santana Row. Our goal was to evoke the feeling of eating in a classic Roman pizzeria, while cooking with pristine local ingredients from small family farmers. We have since opened additional restaurants in Mill Valley, and Lafayette. [read more]

In 1922, Giovanni and Virginia Biale left the town of Savona in Genoa, Italy with their three young sons, Giacomo, Mario and Rudolfo to make a new life in America. With help from a cousin, they made their way to San Francisco and settled in the Italian section of Potrero Hill. Less than a year later, my grandfather, Giovanni, opened “Biale’s Meat Market” on Connecticut Street. To this day “Biale” is still tiled in the entryway of the building. Giacomo “Jack”, my uncle, stayed in the butcher business while Mario, my father, and Rudy went into the bar and restaurant business in San Francisco, Phoenix and Honolulu. Rudy owned and operated two “Rudy’s Italian Restaurants” in Waikiki for 25 years. I worked at Rudy’s for 3 years with my brother Anthony. It was there I learned the importance of being a hands-on owner. People came from all over the world to visit “Rudy’s”, enjoying the food, the wine, and the gracious host. In the fall of 1999, I opened Rocco’s Ristorante & Pizzeria. I have tried to maintain that same warm and inviting feeling my father and uncle provided for so many years. My family hopes you enjoy your visit and will come see us again! [read more]
